Located along the Intracoastal Waterway in Barefoot Landing, next to the Alabama Theater at 4744 Highway 17 South, Flying Fish Public Market & Grill features Lowcountry seafood favorites, sushi, and a raw bar with a variety of shellfish. Inspired by Seattle’s Pike’s Place Public Market and the Pearlz Oyster Bar concept, Flying Fish Public Market & Grill is one of Myrtle Beach’s most unique waterfront restaurants and is close to North Myrtle Beach real estate in Barefoot Resort.
Along with lunch—including $7 lunch specials—and dinner menus, there are menus for sushi, happy hour, and kids at Flying Fish. There is also a special menu for those who are gluten-free.
Upon your first visit to Flying Fish, the complimentary smoked Mahi dip and crackers will delight. If that’s not enough to start with, the hushpuppy basket served with cinnamon-honey butter is a favorite. Locals claim the oysters are always perfect.
Enjoy lowcountry favorites like shrimp and grits and fried green tomatoes in the loft-style seating. Customers have raved about the calamari, swordfish, fish and chips, buffalo-style shrimp, and sweet potato fries. Other front-runners on the menu include roasted red pepper gouda soup, lobster ravioli, and a soft-shell crab BLT. If you’re not a fan of seafood, southern-style fried chicken and the steak are your best bets.
Come hungry—portions seem big enough for two meals. From the fresh fish market, the day’s fresh fish selection can be prepared Cajun style, signature style, or fire-grilled topped with a variety of delectables. There’s also a “build your own boil” where you start with a base of Red Skinned Potatoes, Corn on the Cob, Pecan Smoked Sausage, Old Bay and add your choice of snow crab, gulf shrimp, littleneck clams, PEI mussels, and/or oysters.
